Make sure you start your tour with a completely empty stomach, you will enjoy different types of traditional street food samples on both sides of Istanbul. Your leader will be waiting for you in front of German Fountain on Sultanahmet Square. You will walk through the touristy part of Istanbul and get to backstreets of the old town. First sample of your tasting tour will be börek, which is thin pastry filled with minced meat, cheese or potato. Next, you will get to try çiğ köfte, means raw meatball which is traditionally made from raw ground lamb but in today’s culture is most often composed of wheat and tomato paste. Next stop will be Spice Market, where you will get to try the best herbs and spices in town. You will try samples of Turkish delight and sheep cheese in goat skin which is another traditional way of cheese making here in Turkey. After touring in Spice Market, you will change continent and take ferry to Kadıköy which is the most popular suburb on Anatolian side. Once you get to Kadıköy, your leader will take you to a small kiosk to try another traditional snack called kokoreç, which is composed of wound lamb intestines grilled on a spit, chopped with herbs and spices, and usually served as a sandwich. At the same kiosk, you will get to try stuffed mussels, another secret gem of Turkish street food culture. Next stop is a special pickle shop where you get to try different type of pickles and pickle juice. Shop has established in 1953 and same family is still in charge! Next and final stop is a sweet shop where you will finish your tasting trail like Turks do, a piece of baklava and a cup of Turkish coffee. You will return back to European side with a full stomach and memories of amazing tasting trail!
